A new start

I am so excited to share the story of how I fulfilled a childhood dream: working with fire. After all, who needs matches when you can play with flames reaching 750°C? It all began quite by accident. Lampworking was never meant to become a business. It started purely as a hobby for my own enjoyment.

My husband and I have always loved visiting medieval festivals across Luxembourg. Every year, we discovered more talented artisans, welcoming faces, and beautiful craftsmanship. Over time, we also noticed a growing fascination with Viking culture, inspired by popular series and a renewed interest in Norse history. For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a beautiful Viking dress, lovingly embroidered by hand. I wore it proudly to our next festival and soon became fascinated by the jewellery and accessories worn during the Viking Age. I wanted every detail of my outfit to reflect the history and beauty of that era.

While researching Viking jewellery, I discovered how treasured glass beads once were. They were more than decoration—they were symbols of wealth, status, and family heritage, often passed down through generations. Naturally, I wanted a necklace of my own. However, finding authentic handmade glass beads wasn't easy. Every bead I came across was unique, and that uniqueness fascinated me.

Before long, one simple question kept returning to my mind: "How are glass beads actually made?" That question led me to discover lampworking. What began as curiosity quickly became a passion. I fell in love with transforming molten glass into tiny works of art. Every bead is shaped by hand, making each one completely unique—just like the person who wears it.

Today, I create beads and jewellery with the hope that each piece carries a little of that same wonder, craftsmanship, and history that first inspired me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them.

With love,

Gemma
